Meet Cressida Cowell
(born 15 April, 1966)
Cressida Cowell is a multi-award winning English author and illustrator of children's books.
She was born in London, England but spent much of her childhood on a small uninhabited island off the west coast of Scotland. It was while living on the island that Cressida became fascinated with dragons, her father would tell her old Scottish tales about dragons in caves and she was sure they were on her island.
Although Cressida started writing stories when she was 9 years old, it wasn't until she was 33 that her first book 'Little Bo Peeps Library Book' was published. Cressida is best known for her 'Hiccup' series, the story of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a truly extraordinary Viking hero , warrior chieftain, awesome sword-fighter, amateur naturalist and Dragon Whisperer.
So successful is the series that Dreamworks Animation released 'How to Train Your Dragon' in 2010 and a further 3 movies will follow.
